Renga is a type of Japanese collaborative poetry

it has

a beginning

a middle

an end

The first six stanza are called the jo or introduction.

The initial parts should be almost restrained, a popular analogy here would be your first date.

Part 1 - you both arrive, after some intros you both flutter here and there, visiting many topics, nothing controversial

Part 2 - wine flows, both become bolder, especially if there is some chemistry, conversations flows hither and thither, now you are exploring out on the edge of the belief system...

Part 3 - if you are old school ! ;-)   the first date ends in a sedate goodbye, lots of people around, chaotic almost, nothing controversial here...

A Few More Rules:

Subjects should not be repeated - Renga has been about for 800 years or so... Basho started to stretch it this way and that and it has never been the same since... laughs... That was the end or the beginning - depending on where you stand, how you look and what you want to see ...as jerry jeff walker said ...

quo vadis

the sōshō or Renga Master (in waiting) decides which verses go into a renga so I unilaterally decided to appoint me myself I as the RM...
