How Many Quarts in a Gallon
76Wet or Dry
==============================================================
In the US there are wet and dry measurements, no matter which there will always be 4 quarts in a gallon. Think of it like a dollar;-
there are 4 quarters in a dollar,
there are 4 quarts in a gallon.
==============================================================
Wet
There is a hint in the name quart which is short for quarter (the quart word base is from latin quartus meaning fourth) so 4 quarters make 1
Therefore there are 4 quarts in a Wet gallon, a gallon of liquid for example, gas, water, kerosene !!
That's it done.... remember - like four quarters in a dollar there are four quarts in a gallon..
.
..
Dry
So they use this to also measure dry goods, but it is the same - there will always be 4 quarts in a gallon.
So what Dry Goods do they measure in quarts ?
An example of this is apples - in the stores you can buy apples in 1/2 peck bags so when you buy 1/2 a peck of apples it is a Dry gallon or Four quarts. !
That means it takes two dry gallons make 1 peck
So a 1/2 peck of apples is the same as 4 quarts or 1 gallon or 8 pints or 268.8 cubic inches.
So a 1 peck of apples is the same as 8 quarts or 2 gallons or 16 pints or 537.6 cubic inches.
A 1/2 Peck O' Apples me hearties

Your verbage is concerned with the number of cubic inches in a peck...why do you use metric dimensions in the image of the 1/2 peck of apples?

Drax,
for the ones who can't figure out what a 1/4 is trying to explain simple aritmetics is ... Should you send them back to school? (not to an American school this time around!)
Very clear and concise, not that the subject matter is that difficult. :)
As I said, not all schools are created equal, Drax

complicated things are indeed more fascinating, at least to me.
