Unofficial Hub Poet

Unofficial Statement

As Unofficial Hub Poet I have no guidelines, as such, except perhaps to tread areas avoided by those in positions. :P

America - circa 2006

Democracy tumbleweeds

blow lazily in the van vortex

as we head home, on the road alone,

our pre ration gas stash secure,

folks hide.

voiceless aimless powerless.

stocks of denial spray dwindle.

greed germs coat the carcase,

and multiply.

famous statue skeletons stalk the streets,

in fear.

tax spores cloud the sky,

in this half-a-horse town, state, country,

the government warnings are benign,

a Bruegelesque postcard

East Durham, New York,

Circa 2006.

Close-Eyed Cousins

layers of police protect me

for I have sinned

the town police

the county police

the state police

the invisible police

everywhere police police police

the local kind hide in the hollows

ambushing 60 mile an hour

New Yorkers

soft fat rich

cash oozes out of their calf wallets

resentment dandruff like on their demeanour

brush it off lest the state gouges you and your attitude

speeding a weekend activity

since Caleb can’t catch close-eyed cousins

enjoyed close eyed cousins, driving while rich, the only thing beaten out of you is your money, perspective still has an incestuous quality

greetings Sobatinyela, Sobatinyela - it sounds so exotic... yes living in upstate NY is 'strange' and thank you
